347aidan’s Ascent from TikTok Rapper to Rising Star

347aidan seems like he came right out of nowhere, but his success in the rap world at such a young age is well-earned. Better yet, he’s just getting started.

The 20-year-old blue-haired Canadian rapper/singer takes influence from trap, cloud rap, indie rock, pop punk and emo alike, wearing his heart and struggle with his demons fully on his sleeve with his confessional lyrical style, while bringing unbridled charisma and raw energy to his performances. If you combined different elements of Post Malone, Yung Lean, Trippie Redd, Youngblud, Billie Eilish and Mac Miller into one cohesive artistic identity, you’d probably get someone like 347aidan. His debut EP, CHASING HARMONY, dropped in October 2021.

Though he’s not yet released or announced a debut full-length album, 347aidan’s newest tracks “candyflips!”, “sinkhole.” and “noname” — the latter including a hilariously random sample of the Mario video games — were all released in September 2023. But how did 347aidan get to where he is now in a short timeframe, and where does he go from here?

His name might appear to reference one of New York City’s area codes, but this young Canuck artist is actually from the 138,000-population city of Cambridge, ON, a two-hour drive southwest of Toronto. Like many other rappers, 347aidan got his start by uploading tracks to SoundCloud in 2018, though he wouldn’t experience any sort of mainstream success until the pandemic rolled around. 347aidan started releasing singles to streaming platforms prior to COVID, in June 2019, starting with “ON MY Grind”, “Feeling This” and “34/7”.

Two years later, he’d experience viral success on TikTok — another crucial tool for artists nowadays — thanks to his song “Dancing in My Room”, first released in 2020, gaining traction on the video-sharing platform. While he hasn’t played any shows since October 2022, he’d toured earlier that year across the United States with fellow rapper/singer/social media sensation Oliver Tree before heading overseas for a run of headlining European gigs. Not bad for someone who started making music around the age of 11, and whose first show was at a bar in his native Cambridge at 13 — with only two people watching!

As mentioned earlier, TikTok has been a massively important resource for getting 347aidan to where he is now. The rapper currently has more than 873,000 followers on the platform, with more than 13.7 million likes. He also has a sizeable Instagram following, with more than 327,000 followers on the massively popular photo-sharing app. On Spotify, 347aidan has been experiencing huge success, as he currently has more than 5.4 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform. His two most streamed tracks on Spotify as lead artist are “Dancing in My Room” (nearly 312 million streams) and 2021’s “MEMORIES!” (almost 196 million).

In his native Canada, 347aidan has received plaudits within the industry, as “Dancing in My Room” would be nominated for the SOCAN Songwriting Prize in 2021. Earlier that same year, 347aidan worked with acclaimed rap producer Kenny Beats on the track “IDKW”. In 2022, 347aidan was nominated for two Juno Awards (Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys), getting nods for the Juno Fan Choice Award and Breakthrough Artist of the Year. That same year, he also featured on “Die Young” by Brooklyn drill artist Sleepy Hallow.

As mentioned earlier, 347aidan released three new tracks — “candyflips!”, “sinkhole.” and “noname”, each produced by 21-year-old singer-songwriter Brakence — as part of a three-track EP called I feel like doing candy flips and riding elephants. 347aidan also dropped collaborations with the Chainsmokers (“Up & Down”) and Lil Yachty & Zack Bia (“One of Those Days”) earlier this year. The latter song is included on Zack Bia’s debut album, Learn to Fly, released July 14 of this year.

Though there’s been no official announcement of a tour, a new project or a proper 347aidan studio album, the fact that he’s released a string of new songs as recently as September — not to mention recent collaborations with artists as big as the Chainsmokers — is a good sign for fans that more new material could soon be on its way. Be sure to follow 347aidan’s social media platforms, specifically his TikTok and Instagram accounts, to find out what he’s got planned next in his young and burgeoning career.
